How It Works
Crime Solvers of Fairfax County partners with P3Tips, a secure, encrypted reporting platform that removes all identifying data at the point of submission. We thoroughly review every tip and pass it on to the most appropriate authority, while protecting your identity at every step.
Step 2
Receive Your Code
Once your tip is submitted, you will receive a unique code number. This is the only form of identification Crime Solvers will ever use for you. It is how we communicate with you and how we notify you if your tip qualifies for a reward.
Step 3
Your Tip Goes to Work
Investigators at the CSFC Tip Intake Center, review your tip. Every tip is assigned and investigated. If your information helps lead to an arrest, the filing of charges, or the recovery of property or drugs, your tip may qualify for a cash reward.
Step 4
Claim Your Reward Anonymously
If your tip qualifies, you will receive secure instructions through the P3 system. Rewards are paid in cash at a designated bank using only your code number. No ID required. No court appearance required.
What You Can Report
P3Tips is designed for non-emergency tips about serious crimes. You can use P3Tips to submit:
- Information about unsolved crimes
- Tips about wanted individuals or fugitives
- Knowledge of drug activity, trafficking, or organized crime
- Leads on violent crimes including assault, robbery, and homicide
- Photos or video evidence, uploaded directly through the P3 platform
If a crime is in progress or there is an immediate threat to safety, please call 911.
Things You Should Know
- Crime Solvers will never ask for your name, phone number, address, or any other identifying information.
- We do not record phone calls or use caller ID. No one will know you called unless you tell them.
- Your unique code number is the only way Crime Solvers can identify you.
- Crime Solvers cannot call you. We do not ask for your number. You must go online or call back with your code to check the status of your tip.
- Rewards are paid in cash, anonymously, at a designated bank. You will not be asked to show any ID.
- Money received through the reward program does not need to be reported to anyone.
- Rewards may expire after 120 days if not claimed.
Your Tip Makes a Difference
Since October 1979, tips received by Crime Solvers of Fairfax County have led to the arrest of more than 2,000 criminals, including more than 200 fugitives. As the oldest Crime Solvers program in the Commonwealth of Virginia, our record reflects what a community can achieve when neighbors choose to act.
