Tips Lead to Three Arrests in Woodlawn Fatal Shooting.
When 21-year-old Jaylin Hartless was found shot and killed near his vehicle on Buckman Road in Woodlawn in the early morning hours of September 19, 2025, detectives needed the community’s help. They turned to Fairfax County Crime Solvers, and the community answered.
Following a public appeal, numerous tips poured in through the Crime Solvers program. Those tips gave detectives the leads they needed to identify three suspects within days of the shooting.
By September 23, Tavon Ferguson, 31, of Alexandria, was located and arrested. He faces charges of Second Degree Murder, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
Two days later, Tennida Ferguson, 49, of Alexandria, was taken into custody and charged with Accessory to Murder after the Fact, Concealing Evidence, and Obstruction of Justice.
On September 26, Tavon Lang, 32, of Alexandria, was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
All three were held on no bond.
