Fairfax County Crime Solvers Closes Out Its Most Successful Year on Record.
Fairfax County Crime Solvers wrapped up 2025 with a milestone year, setting an all-time record for tip volume and delivering results that made the community measurably safer.
By the Numbers
The program received 643 tips in 2025, the highest annual total in its history. Every single tip was assigned and closed, a 100% closure rate. Fifty-six percent were handled entirely in-house, and 15 urgent tips were investigated immediately. The community earned $16,250 in cash rewards across 13 qualifying tips.
Tips came in through every available channel: 340 through the mobile app, 187 via the website, and 116 by phone.
Real Cases, Real Results
Behind those numbers are real cases where community tips made the difference.
In the Mount Vernon District, a young man was shot and killed on a street. Crime Solvers tips quickly identified the shooter, and an arrest was made within hours of the murder.
In the Reston District, a tip identifying a commercial burglary suspect gave detectives the lead they needed to make several arrests and close the case.
In the McLean District, a tip in response to a public appeal immediately identified a repeat peeping suspect, leading to a swift arrest.
In one of the most urgent situations of the year, a tip warned that a man was in crisis and posed a danger to himself and potentially others. Detectives acted immediately, locating and safely intervening before anyone was harmed.
